It has now been a week since Liam Payne's tragic death. While staying at a hotel in Argentina, where One Direction bandmate Niall Horan had performed recently, Payne fell from his room's balcony to his untimely death. Since it happened, there has been tons of new information that has emerged, drawing out a process that was already painful as is.
Perhaps no one is feeling more regret, guilt and heartbreak than Kate Cassidy. Payne's girlfriend had accompanied him to Argentina, but she did not think the trip would last as long as it did. Eventually, she left on her own while Payne stayed behind. Two days later, tragedy struck. Cassidy had only made one public statement while asking for privacy, until she posted again on Wednesday.
In her post, she mentioned that Payne planned to marry her within a year, and that they had recently been "manifesting our lives together". Despite how copacetic everything seemed to be between the two, a close friend of Cassidy revealed stunning details to the New York Post on Wednesday.
Kate Cassidy felt like a "hostage" in Argentina with Liam Payne
According to Cassidy's friend, Payne's girlfriend felt like she was in a "hostage situation" in Argentina with the singer.
She can't leave, or else who knows what will happen? And if she leaves, what will he do? But she has other responsibilities, other things that she's supposed to be doing. So she finally had to make a decision... So she tells him she wants to leave, this is after a week. He begs her to stay. She keeps extending her trip... She wanted to be home in her own bed with her dog. She wanted to come home. So eventually she says she's going home.
All in all, it seemed to be a no-win situation from the get-go for both Cassidy and Payne. No one could have imagined this being the outcome if Cassidy were to leave him alone for a little while.
