A group of friends made an unexpected discovery after spending $962 on an abandoned storage unit in an auction.
Parting ways with so much money when you have absolutely no idea what you’ll get in return is a huge gamble, but it turned out well for this group.
In a video shared on the What The Hales YouTube channel in 2019, the friends’ bid for the unit was successful.
After chipping in almost $1,000 on the unit in Cleveland, Ohio, they found goodies worth around 10 times more than what they paid.

When they opened the unit they found a ‘beautiful’ snow blower. Alas, that was not the only treasure hiding in the unit. Behind the machine was something a lot more expensive.
They found a bright orange Dodge Charger. The car’s hood had been popped open and the friends found that the muscle car has a Hemi V8 powerplant engine that has been discontinued.
The car also has a stock manual transmission and an ‘immaculate’ interior.
The YouTubers are pro thrifters and they found an incredible deal because it was the last unit sold that day, meaning most of the other bidders had either left by that point or had spent their budgets.
After opening the unit and finding the car inside, they were understandably left in shock by what they saw.
However, they were devastated when they realised they could not keep the gem of a car.
“Everything in the unit is split amongst us, except for the car,” said one of the friends in the video.

This is because the car had a lien on it, which means if it was abandoned by the owners, it must be turned in to anyone was still owed money on the car.
However, the friends made yet another incredible discovery behind the car — a Harley Davidson motorcycle that was covered in dust, but was still in a great condition.
The vintage cycle only had 150 miles on it, and the thrifter friends guessed it was from the 1950s or 1960s. They also found a Triumph motorcycle, which is also thought to be worth a lot of money.
Elsewhere in the storage unit they found a car lift, which they said could get $2,000 for it. They also found film cameras and a huge auto shop sign.
Viewers were left in awe by the group’s incredible luck. One fan gushed: “Wow what a unit! Nice car and not one, but two motorcycles!”
“Fantastic unit,” declared another subscriber.
“Awesome find,” wrote another.
