The BAFTA Film Award nominations for 2025 threw up a very mixed field after a great year for cinema with blockbusters such as Gladiator II doing big business alongside strong independent films like Anora, which proved a huge hit with audiences and critics alike.

The British Academy's longlists, from which the nominees were narrowed down, was announced earlier this month. The awards hosted by David Tennant, will take place on 16 February at London's Royal Festival Hall.

After the winners of the top six categories at last year's BAFTAs also went on to win the Academy Award, this year's nods are expected to be a strong indicator for the Oscars.

The BAFTA EE Rising Star Award 2025 nominations had previously been unveiled by film critic Ali Plumb at London's Savoy Hotel on January 7.

Marisa Abela, was recognised for her portrayal of Amy Winehouse in Back to Black; Jharrel Jerome, was nominated for his role as Anthony Robles in Unstoppable; David Jonsson, who played Andy in Alien: Romulus got a nod; Mikey Madison, was lauded for her lead role as Ani in the critically acclaimed Anora; and Nabhaan Rizwan, nominated for his performance as Aden in the indie film In Camera," will all be hoping to take home the award at the ceremony.

Warwick Davis is also set to receive the Bafta fellowship.
