The funeral details have been announced for Irish songwriter and musician Johnny Duhan after he tragically lost his life while swimming off the coast of Galway.
Johnny’s body was recovered at around 1.40pm on Tuesday following an extensive search and rescue operation for two swimmers who were reported missing separately.
His death notice reads: "On Tuesday, the 12th of November, songwriter and musician Johnny met his untimely death while taking his daily swim in Galway Bay.

Johnny will be “deeply missed by his heartbroken wife Maureen with whom he started his voyage 54 years ago”.
“Treasured by his beloved crew of five children: Ronan, Niamh, Kevin, Ailbhe and Brian, as well as his daughter-in-law Siobhan, sons-in-law Padraic and Ian and Brian’s partner Emma.
“Adored by his precious grandchildren: Aoibheann, Alanna, Caitlin, Saoirse, Hannah, Aimee, Dylan, Ryan, Sonny, and Paidi. His brothers Eric, Barry, Michael, and sisters Joan, Kay, Patti, and Suzanne, along with the Biggins family Paddy and Sarah, and Dorry and Teresa and along with his in-laws and all of his dear friends, neighbours and devoted fans”.
Johnny’s funeral mass will take place at St. Killian's Church New Inn on Friday, before he is laid to rest in Killaan Cemetery, Woodlawn.
The major search for the second swimmer is still underway across Galway Bay. The woman in her 30s is known to swim every morning before work. The alarm was raised at about 1pm on Tuesday after she failed to show up for work as an Irish Language Development Officer in Spiddal.
