Fury as Cheater Demands Ex Pay Her and New Boyfriend's Bills

A woman has been slammed by Reddit users after her ex-partner took to the platform to share that she expects him to fund her new lifestyle.

The post, which was shared to Reddit on November 26, has sparked widespread outrage after the man revealed the lengths to which his ex-girlfriend went to maintain financial support from him despite her infidelity. Shared under u/ok_combination475, the man's post has amassed more than 18,000 upvotes, with many expressing shock at his ex-partner's actions and sense of entitlement.

The man, who discovered his girlfriend of 11 years had been cheating on him with an unemployed man, said she demanded that he continue to pay her bills after their breakup.

"She got used to that lifestyle and wanted to keep living it despite cheating with a broke dude," he said.

Despite providing financial support for years—including covering her rent, personal expenses and vacations—he cut ties after uncovering her infidelity.

"When it was clear I was done with her, the entitlement really started to show," he added.

"She said because I had family in the area and she didn't, I should move out but continue paying the bills to give her and the new guy a chance to get on their feet," he said.

The ex-girlfriend also insisted he leave their dogs with her and pay for their food and veterinary expenses.

"When the man discovered his ex's infidelity and chose to end the relationship, her inability to take accountability and her escalating demands reflected an unhealthy attachment to the lifestyle he provided, rather than the relationship itself," Jeanne Cross, a licensed therapist based in Colorado, told Newsweek.

The man responded to his ex by refusing her demands and kicking her out. She retaliated by attempting to sue him for lost wages, claiming she was forced to quit her job because of relocation. When that failed, she went further, harassing his workplace and demanding $100,000 in damages for her alleged losses. In response, his employer filed harassment charges against her.

"She started messaging every family member of mine that she could find," the man said.

He claimed that she begged his relatives for money and even resorted to falsely portraying herself as a victim of domestic violence on social media.

"From a therapeutic perspective, the man's decision to set firm boundaries—keeping his home, pets, and independence—was a vital step in protecting his emotional well-being," Cross said. "His ex's retaliatory behaviors, including legal threats and attempts to involve his family and workplace, suggest a pattern of manipulative and entitled behavior that goes beyond typical grief or anger after a breakup."

The therapist says that the man's refusal to do as his ex asked demonstrates resilience and can put a stop to his ex's dependence.

"Moving forward, focusing on self-care and processing the emotional toll of the relationship will be key to fostering healing and rebuilding trust in future relationships," she added.

Commenters on Reddit were quick to voice their opinions, many applauding the man for standing his ground and not succumbing to his ex's demands.

"That woman is unhinged. Hope OP has her permanently blocked everywhere," one said.

The man responded: "I have her blocked on everything and have a restraining order. She has some serious issues. I used to love her, now I laugh at her."

"You really dodged a bullet with her. I'm so sorry she treated you so horribly, but it's better to see who she really was. I wish you all the best," another added.

The man said: "I don't understand how she doesn't get that any financial support I gave her would end if she cheated on me. We weren't married. We don't have kids. I've supported her for years. I owe her nothing."
