Gabby Logan has opened up about "waiting to feel grief" amidst a significant family shift.

Speaking to Hello magazine, the BBC sports presenter divulged how she's been adjusting to a major family shake-up. Her daughter Lois flew the nest for university last September, a year and a half after her twin brother Reuben took after his dad, embarking on a rugby career.

Gabby, 51, described her process of dealing with the empty nest, saying: "I was waiting to feel more grief, so hopefully we're finding a balance. Maybe I'm saying yes to things that I wouldn't usually say yes to.

"It's a slow and interesting change. It doesn't feel dramatic, but I'm sure that when I look back in a year, I'll realise that things have changed a lot."

Despite bracing for a period of 'grief' as she and husband, rugby union star Kenny Logan, faced an empty home, Gabby noted: "There are some nights when you're on your own, and then it does feel a bit strange."

During a festive edition of her Mid Point podcast, which featured her family, she recently recounted feeling emotional over the empty nest. She explained: "I was driving up the area we live in and there's a grammar school near us and they obviously finished with a half day and the bus unloaded and all these boys with their black puffer jackets all got off, about 14, 15, and I found myself filling up a bit."

Reflecting on the anticipation of her daughter's departure for university, she shared on another episode: "Lois is going to be more semi-permanent, because she's not going to be coming home during the week, she's not going to be coming home every weekend like he does. So we might go three or four weeks without seeing her."

Gabby Logan is bursting with pride as her kids chase their sporting dreams, with Lois aiming for showjumping glory at Loughborough University and Reuben tackling the rugby field for Northampton Saints, reports Leeds Live. She's loving every moment on the sidelines but is adamant about not riding their "coat-tails" or living "vicariously" through their triumphs.
