The actor vulnerably opened up about the year filled with “profound challenges and deep reflections.” Opting out of curated moments on social media, she talked about a terrifying health crisis in hopes of raising awareness and supporting others going through similar struggles.
The star revealed that she was diagnosed with a massive blot clot in her brain in February. She was also eight months pregnant with her daughter at the time. She underwent an MRI after struggling through severe headaches that left her confined to the bed. Gadot said that the MRI revealed the “terrifying truth,” while also making her and her family realize that life can change at any moment. She further said, “In the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.”
Gal Gadot recalled rushing to the hospital and undergoing emergency surgery. She confessed to giving birth to her daughter Ori during the uncertain moment. The actor recalled telling her husband Jaron Varsano that the child would “be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.” Expressing her appreciation to her doctors, Gadot noted that she was grateful for a second shot at life.
Gal Gadot also shared her learnings through the incident. She stressed the importance of listening to one’s body and not ignoring its signs. Secondly, she created awareness about the Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT) diagnosis. The actor stated that “3 in 100,000 pregnant women” in the age group of over 30 receive the diagnosis. She ended her post in hopes of not scaring but empowering people.
