Galaxy S25 Series Might Skip Charging Speed Upgrades After All

Samsung is gearing up for the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025, with just over a month until the expected launch. While leaks are dropping in daily around the S25 trio, a new certification leak now shows the Galaxy S25 series may retain the same charging speeds as this year’s Galaxy S24 series.

The Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra have been spotted on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website. This means the phones have completed all necessary certifications and testing, indicating they are ready for production. The S25 series had earlier appeared on Geekbench, BIS, 3C, and other websites.

According to the FCC listing, here are the charging speeds for all three models:

Galaxy S25: 25W Wired, 9W Wireless Charging

Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Ultra: 45W Wired Charging

Appearing with model number SM-936U, the Galaxy S25 Plus was tested with travel adapter EP-T2510, suggesting 45W fast wired charging—the same as the Galaxy S24 Plus.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is tested with the same EP-T2510 travel adapter, confirming 45W fast charging. The phone will also come with an S-Pen with model number EJ-PS938, manufactured by Wacom. Both phones are likely to retain 15W wireless charging.

Other Information from the FCC Listing

The listing further suggests all three smartphones will come with the following connectivity options:

• 5G
• LTE
• Dual-band WiFi
• Bluetooth
• GNSS
• NFC
• Ultra-wide band (S25 Plus and S25 Ultra only)
• S Pen support (S25 Ultra only)

In short, the Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Ultra seem to be retaining the same charging speeds as this year’s models. This could disappoint consumers who were expecting faster charging speeds, especially given that brands like OnePlus and Xiaomi have moved on to 100W and even faster speeds.

Perhaps more disappointing is the wireless charging downgrade on the regular S25. It’s seems to be toned down from 15W to 9W, but this should be taken with a grain of salt as it’s not yet confirmed and there doesn’t seem to be a logical reason for such a downgrade.
