George and Amal Clooney are about to embark on maybe the most difficult part of their marriage journey yet — living on different continents!
In case you didn’t hear, the Ocean’s Eleven star is set to make his Broadway debut in 2025 with a Broadway version of his acclaimed 2005 film Good Night, and Good Luck. An exciting opportunity, as he’s going to be trying something totally new, but… there’s a big downside. In order to take this six-month run head-on, he’s going to have to be separated from his family!
An insider told Life&Style of the upcoming stage show stint:
“George has never done Broadway before, and he’s thrilled about the opportunity, but between rehearsals and performances, it means he will spend six months in NYC. Amal is going to remain in France, where their two children are settled in — and there’s no denying this is going to test their 10-year marriage.”
Whoa! They’re going to be separated all that time?? Yes, while the human rights lawyer stays behind to look after twins Alexander and Ella, George will be overseas working on his performance. When the kiddos were younger, Amal would’ve just joined him over in NYC, but now that they’re 7, their famous parents don’t want to uproot their lives and take them out of school to follow Dad around the world.

But the fam has a plan! They’re going to use other ways of communication to stay in touch:
“They’re going to stay in touch over FaceTime and text. George will be able to speak to the kids every night before bedtime, taking the time difference into consideration. And Amal might be able to fly out for the occasional weekend visit.”
The downside is that, according to the source, past separations put a HUGE strain on their marriage. The insider said “it didn’t do the marriage much good”:
“So spending so much time apart is bound to be challenging.”
No kidding… Six months is a lot longer than it sounds! Especially to be without your spouse. Almost every time we’ve ever seen a couple living this far apart for this long, it’s been the beginning of the end.
The ER actor is trying to remain optimistic, though, per the source:
“George is telling Amal and the twins that he’ll be back home in no time at all.”
Hopefully for the sake of the whole family they’ll be able to get through this without a hitch! Reactions, Perezcious readers?
