Actor Brian Murphy has died at the age of 92.
The funny-man is best known for appearing in the 1970s ITV sitcoms Man About The House as well as George And Mildred. In more recent years he starred in the likes of Holby City, Casualty and Plebs, and even joined the Benidorm cast for a 2010 episode.
Brian died at his home in Kent on Sunday morning (February 2). His friend and agent Thomas Bowington said he was a "joyful and profoundly good-hearted man".
Elsewhere in Thomas' tribute, he praised Brian's "talent and humanity". Brian is survived by his wife Linda Regan, was appeared in Hi-de-Hi! and his two sons.
Born on the Isle of Wight, Brian would meet Richard Briers, who would go on to appear in The Good Life, during his national service in the RAF. They both would go on to pursue acting after leaving the RAF.
In his early career, Brian landed guest roles in shows such as The Avengers, Z-Cars and Dixon Of Dock Green. But his big break came with Man About The House, in which he played henpecked husband George Roper.
In the ITV sitcom, he acted alongside Yootha Joyce, who played his ons-screen wife Mildred. Their pairing was a popular one, likely helped by the fact they have been friends for years, having met at the Theatre Workshop.
The show ended in 1976, however the duo landed their own spin-off, George And Mildred. It ran for five series until 1979.
He returned to the role in the feature film-length versions of the shows. However a final series of George And Mildred was cancelled as actress Yootha Joyce sadly died in 1980, aged just 53.
