Keeping my hair healthy is a full-time job. Depending on the day, you can find me hair oiling, utilizing heatless curl hacks, and sleeping on a silk pillowcase (probably with a bonnet). The truth is, I've been waxing poetic about my commitment to hair health for some time now, so it probably comes as no surprise that hair masks have also become a staple in my weekly routine.

When it comes to finding the right hair mask, I often liken myself to Goldilocks because I'm always searching for the product that's "just right." I have thin hair, so I don't like masks that are too thick and weigh my hair down, but I need them to be hydrating enough to actually make a difference.

My current hyper-fixation? The new Gisou Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hair Mask ($42). It's brand-spanking new, and I was lucky enough to start testing it before it even launched.

What I Like About the Gisou Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hair Mask

What I found most impressive about this mask was the difference it made in my hair after just one use. Every time I use it, my hair looks shiny and feels soft, which is always the goal. I love instant gratification (which is probably why I only shop at places with fast shipping), and this mask definitely scratched that itch. The consistency is on the thicker side, but only a tiny bit more than my regular conditioner, which has made it super easy to work into my weekly hair-care routine. It is fragranced, but I am obsessed with the smell, and it isn't too overpowering. If you're familiar with Gisou products you'll recognize it — it's a warm floral mix.

Also, I just have to mention the packaging. If you in any way care about an aesthetic bathroom, this product is absolute perfection. The mask in housed in an ombré yellow tub that looks like a honey pot. It's so stunning that I keep it front and center on my tiny bathroom shelf.

How to Use the Gisou Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hair Mask

The brand recommends using this hair mask in two different ways. The first is in the place of conditioner. After shampooing, squeeze any excess water out of your hair and then apply the mask from the mid-lengths to the ends. Leave it for five to seven minutes, then rinse out. If you're looking for more hydration, you can apply the mask to dry hair and wear it overnight, then wash it out in the morning.

Personally, I like to use this mask in the shower in place of conditioner or when I'm wearing a treatment bun. For the latter, I apply to dry ends and pull my hair into a low, slick-back bun or claw clip. I typically wear it throughout the day and wash it out in the evening, then style my hair as I usually would.

What to Consider Before Trying the Gisou Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hair Mask

One thing to note is that this product does have a strong scent. If you're familiar with other Gisou products, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's yummy, but if you're sensitive to fragrance in your beauty products, I'd recommend conducting a sniff before purchasing, just in case. Personally, I'm a big fan — and I don't find that it lingers too long once I've styled my hair.

Where the Gisou Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hair Mask Is Available

The Gisou Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hair Mask will be available directly on the brand's website on January 21. If you're looking to get your hands on it early, it will be available to shop on the Sephora app starting on January 20.
