Eagle-eyed Glastonbury fans think they've figured out the next headliner to be confirmed for next year's festival and, according to reports, they could be spot on.
Next summer will mark 16 years since Neil Young's epic headline Pyramid Stage set at Glastonbury. Insiders have revealed that the Heart Of Gold rocker is hoping to return to Worthy Farm and join the likes of Sir Rod Stewart and Nile Rodgers on the star-studded line-up.
Neil recently disclosed that he was reworking plans for a European tour — and wanted to scrap the indoor plans for outdoor gigs. Writing on his website, Neil stated: "Indoor concerts could be too risky for health reasons and we don’t want to have to cancel any concerts for health reasons next summer."
Instead, Neil and The Chrome Hearts will be performing at big outdoor venues from next spring across Europe and the UK. Over recent days, observant fans have noticed that Neil’s website had been updated to include a picture of a ticket from 2009’s Glastonbury. Sharing a screenshot of Neil's website update on Twitter (X) on Sunday, The Glasto Thing account penned: "There's a bit of a (for me) too good to be true rumour floating about. Just to throw a little petrol on the flames, Neil Young has put his Glastonbury 2009 set up on his website. Add that to him saying he's doing dates in Europe next year, plus a few other little bits and..."

The show, which garnered five-star reviews from critics, showcased Neil delivering a set brimming with classics such as Cinnamon Girl, Down By The River and Rockin' In The Free World.
Speaking to The Sun about the rumours, a source claimed on Monday that "Glastonbury is on the cards" and "his team are keen to get him on the line-up". "With Sir Rod Stewart confirmed to play, if Emily Eavis can get Neil on board too there would be two huge legends on the line up. Stevie Wonder is also in the mix for this year as well as The 1975," the inside said. "Glastonbury appears to be leaning back into its roots of rock, and if they can secure Neil it would be an amazing addition to what is already shaping up to be an incredible line up."
Last week, Sir Rod Stewart said he is "more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate" as he was announced for the legends slot at Glastonbury next year. The 79-year-old is the first musical act to be confirmed for the 2025 festival at Worthy Farm, before it takes a fallow year in 2026.
Sir Rod said on Instagram: "I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing @glastofest 2025! After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I’ll see you there!.” Sir Rod headlined Glastonbury in 2002, performing on Sunday night to close out the festival.
Festival organiser Emily Eavis said on Instagram: "Bringing Sir Rod Stewart back for the Sunday afternoon slot on the Pyramid stage is everything we could wish for." She added: “What a way to bow out with the final legends slot before we take a fallow year. We cannot wait!."
