Kate Garraway offered comfort to an emotional former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant on Thursday's episode of Good Morning Britain.
The ITV programme saw Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, feature as a guest as he opened up about his experiences caring for his mother, who has dementia, and the challenges faced by carers.
Naughty Boy, who appeared on I'm A Celebrity in 2021, emphasised the importance of paid Carer's Leave to help families balance work and care, as part of Carers Rights Day today on Thursday 21 November, the Mirror reports.
The musician became emotional as he said: "Mum's been living with me for the last five, six years. Mum is recovering from a stroke and there's side effects, like dementia, and little..." He had to stop and compose himself.
Co-host Susanna Reid said: "It's hard to talk about" and Richard Madeley added: "It's very hard to talk about."
Later in the show, Naughty Boy surprised Kate, 57, who has shared her own experiences of caring for her late husband Derek Draper, who tragically passed away in January aged 56. The musician gifted Kate a book, The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari, which he had also received this week as he had two copies.
Naughty Boy said he was planning to read the spiritual book and wanted to gift Kate with a copy also. The presenter was deeply moved by the gesture, expressing her gratitude with: "That's so kind of you! Thank you so much! "
