Golden Globes: The favourites of the 82nd annual prestigious film and TV awards

1 day ago 1

The biggest names in Hollywood are gearing up for film and television’s night of nights on Monday, with the 82nd annual Golden Globes set to take place.

Hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser — famous for her brutal celebrity roast skits — the ceremony is set to boast one of the most star-studded line-ups in history, with Ariana Grande, Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Angelina Jolie, Daniel Craig and Denzel Washington among the nominees across the 27 categories.

The leading nominee with a whopping 10 point difference is Jacques Audiard’s cutting edge musical thriller Emilia Perez — following a Mexican drug lord who transitions into living as a woman.

The film is in the running for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Director, Best Actress with Karla Sofia Gascon, and Best Supporting Actress with Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez.

That means fierce contenders like hit musical Wicked, thriller-mystery Conclave and postwar historical drama The Brutalist have fallen behind.

The Brutalist’s seven nominations follow Emilia Perez closely with Aussie nominee Guy Pearce for Best Actor.

The Bear leads all TV nominees with five points.

There are 26 nominees who are contenders in the Golden Globes for the first time, including Pamela Anderson, Grande, Dakota Fanning, Glaser, Seth Myers and Saldana.

Sebastian Stan, Kate Winslet and Selena Gomez are the three stars to have scooped up double nominations.

Meanwhile, Steve Martin has been nominated for the fourth year in a row in the category of Best Television Actor in a musical or comedy series, this time for Only Murders in the Building. The 79-year-old American comedian, actor, writer, producer and musician now brings his total nominations to nine but this year could be his first to take home a Golden Globe.

A live telecast will take place on CBS and be streamed on Paramount+ at 9am AWST with host Glaser sure to start the night off with a bang. The host’s very own standup comedy show on HBO, Someday You’ll Die, is a fan favourite for the Best Performance in Stand Up Comedy on TV award.

The Golden Globes 2025 will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

We’ve compiled a list of the nominees and fan favourites so you’re prepared for the big event.
