Google is working on AI Replies feature; Here are the details

Google is soon going to bring an AI Replies feature that will be available for Pixel smartphones. In a report published by 9To5Google, the feature will trigger AI-generated responses for the Contextual Call Screen that will allow the users to reply to the calls without picking up. The report suggested that the code strings in the latest beta version of the Phone app by Google have revealed the same.

The code mentions that ‘Call Assist’ will provide AI-powered smart replies on the basis of Call Screen responses. As of now, all the Call Screen replies in the Phone app on Pixel Phones let user drop their response to calls with suggested responses. Let’s say, you get a call for confirmation of appointments, then Google Assistant could create responses for the same like cancel appointment or confirm.

The Call Screen feature already lets users assign Google Assistant to receive incoming calls and ask the callers the reason behind the call. The feature is available in limited regions and it works on all Pixel devices. With the Call Screen contextual replies feature in action, users were able to know the intent behind a call and then ask the assistant to either drop a positive or negative response for the same.

For example, if someone is getting a call related to a party invite, then they can ask the assistant to either decline or accept the invite. Now, AI Replies will make the whole process more interactive with relevant replies instead of suggested responses. We can expect to see the feature making the lives of the users more convenient in the future.
