One of the coolest parts of the Galaxy S25 Ultra was the anti-reflective front display, thanks to Gorilla Armor. Now, Gorilla Armor 2 makes its debut on the next-generation Galaxy S25 Ultra a mere year after the first version was announced.
Gorilla Glass has been a staple in top flagship phones for a long time now, though the usage of the company’s screen options has dwindled a bit. The most recent lineup from Gorilla Glass was the Gorilla Glass Victus series, which was released in 2020. Since the release of Victus, OEMs have begun finding other options or developing proprietary ones. When the Gorilla Armor panel was announced, it only found its way onto the S24 Ultra.
Many devices, like the Pixel 9 series, still use Victus 2, as it’s cheaper and not as niche as Gorilla Armor. Still, Gorilla Armor has proven to be a great option for devices, even if it hadn’t found a home on many in 2024.
Today, the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra were announced and have been made available for pre-order. With that, the Galaxy S25 Ultra debuts Corning’s new Gorilla Armor 2. Samsung doesn’t go into heavy detail about Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2, but the company does note that the second edition has the same anti-reflective characteristic many appreciate.
The new generation is likely a little stronger and a little better at deterring elections, which are a pain to deal with. The Galaxy S24 Ultra proved that a phone doesn’t need an unrealistic amount of brightness if it has good anti-reflective performance.
The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are currently available for pre-order at the same price point as the previous generation.
