We have a major update on Chanel Banks!
In case you don’t recall, the actress who was in a few episodes of Gossip Girl back in the day was reported missing in November. At first, everything sounded so terrifying — we’ve heard way too many stories where women just vanish and the endings are rarely happy… Her mom and her cousin, Lutchmin Judy Kumar and Danielle Singh, sounded the alarms when they hadn’t heard from Chanel in a while. Then police got involved, fans got involved, and the two of them even suggested the poor girl may be in danger.
After police actually found Chanel, they still weren’t convinced, either! The actress posted some lengthy statements to Instagram where she explained she went to Texas on her own free will to get baptized — but that only led her mom and cousin to accuse her of joining a “cult”. Chanel claimed she was running away from the abuse she suffered for years at the hands of her family, though.

A WILD situation, through and through! But the drama has not stopped there.
On Thursday, Chanel filed for a restraining order against her cousin and mother, per TMZ. She claims they worked together to harass her and destroy any credibility she has, repeatedly trying to make unwanted contact with her. The legal documents state her family continued to try and bother her despite her husband, Carlos Jimenez, telling them repeatedly to leave her alone. There are also allegedly text messages showing Kumar and Singh threatening to “weaponize the police” to get their way. Awful… And it only gets worse…
The week in November the television star was reported missing, she claims her mom and cousin broke into her apartment and attacked her husband. She says she filed police reports about the two of them allegedly stealing Carlos’ work badges and also putting an Apple AirTag on her car to track her movements. It’s after this Chanel says the pair accused her husband of murder and claimed she should be put in a 5150 psychiatric hold. WTF!
The Gossip Girl alum is asking the court to stop her mother and cousin from contacting her at all, as well as speaking about her publicly. The outlet reached out to the family, who have denied all allegations, particularly that Carlos was attacked. Chanel is claiming the markings on her husband’s body are from her mom and cousin, while the source for the family said he already had them when he got home.
All in all, the family rep claims they don’t want to talk to Chanel anymore, namely for the way she speaks about her mother and cousin. And where they think she should be more grateful she has family that would come looking for her if she were to go missing, they’re just glad she’s alive.
