Gregg Wallace's old comment about 'chatting people up at work' has resurfaced after he stepped away from his role at MasterChef.

It was recently announced Gregg will be stepping away from his role on MasterChef after complaints from individuals about historical allegations of misconduct. And now, his comments from 2020 resurfaced amid an investigation by the BBC into misconduct claims.

The MasterChef star, who was the host of the BBC cooking show, has denied allegations of inappropriate sexual comments he is said to have made. Former Newsnight host Kirsty Wark is among 13 people who have accused the MasterChef presenter of making inappropriate sexual comments, BBC News reported.

Kirsty appeared on the BBC cooking show in 2011 and has claimed that Wallace told “jokes of a sexualised nature" on two occasions during filming. Speaking to BBC News , Kirsty said Wallace’s alleged remarks were "really, really in the wrong place". Wallace is “committed to fully cooperating throughout the process” during the BBC's investigation process, a statement from the show’s production company Banijay UK to the PA news agency said.

In 2020, Gregg spoke to Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast and joked that it would be hard to 'chat up' anyone at work because of the HR department whereas Twitter was a better place to talk to people. He said: "You can't chat anyone up at work because the HR department would sack you."

Gregg, who met his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini on X back in 2013, continued: "What I like about Twitter is that it is not a dating site. You can just have friendly chats with people." Gregg and Anne-Marie tied the knot in 2016 after first interacting on Twitter, and now the couple share a four-year-old son, Sid.

The TV personality has been open about his relationship over the years and previously opened up about how he met her on Twitter. She had messaged him to ask if rhubarb really went well with duck after seeing him try a recipe on a cooking show. He previously told HELLO! Magazine: "I just looked at Anna's photo and thought, 'Wow, she's pretty'. So yes, rhubarb, which was considered an aphrodisiac in medieval times, brought us together."

He later shared more about their love story while appearing on ITV's Lorraine, revealing he sent her a message on Twitter and they began messaging. "Then I sent her my phone number, this was five years ago," he confessed. However, Anna wasn't certain that he was the real deal until they met up for the first time in person.
