Gregg Wallace apologises for his earlier post on Instagram

Gregg Wallace has inadvertently let his mask slip in his latest apology video, body language expert Judi James has claimed.

The MasterChef star, who stepped back last week amid allegations of sexual misconduct, took to Instagram today (December 2) to apologise for “any offence caused” by his rant about “women of a certain age”.

Gregg said: “I want to apologise for any offence that I caused with my post yesterday, and any upset I may have caused to a lot of people.

“I wasn’t in a good headspace when I posted it. I’ve been under a huge amount of stress, a lot of emotion. I felt very alone, under siege, yesterday when I posted it. It’s obvious to me I need to take some time out now while this investigation is underway.

“I hope you understand and I do hope you accept this apology.”

He denies all allegations of sexual misconduct, with his legal team saying "it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature”.

Judi analysed Gregg’s first video which hit out at his accusers, claiming he was using “defensive” body language. She told Express.co.uk: “Wallace's previous video posting showed him using the body language of defiance. His body bristled in what looked like indignation and his elbows pumped against his torso in a micro-gesture.

“His voice was strong and there was the signature dimpling of his cheek. Filmed splayed and straight on to camera he performed brow and shoulder shrugs as he made his own case.”

She went on: “For this new video though we are shown a very different body language state. The dimpling has gone and his expression looks serious, with a lower jaw jut and a frown etched between his eyebrows.

“This is Wallace apparently in victim mode, telling the camera about not being 'in a good head space', having a 'huge amount of stress' and 'feeling very alone' and 'under siege’.”

She went on: “His voice sounds more hoarse and breathy here and when he mentions his stress there is a head baton and a lip clamp to emphasise the point.

“His line about 'I need to take some time out' comes with an eyebrow flash of acknowledgment and a mouth clamp. His apology line is the classic 'I want to apologise for any offence I caused', rather than a more specific apology for what might or might not have occurred in terms of behaviour.”
