'Grey's Anatomy' Star Shares What Taylor Swift Security Said to Her at Show

Grey's Anatomy star Camilla Luddington has shared that not only she wasn't invited backstage to meet Taylor Swift when she attended the Eras Tour, but she was escorted out of the stadium in a manner that she likened to a "military operation."

Luddington plays Dr. Josephine "Jo" Wilson in the ABC series, having joined the cast in 2012. She hosts the podcast Call It What It Is alongside her friend and former Grey's Anatomy star Jessica Capshaw. Capshaw became a regular on the medical drama as pediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins. She left in March 2018 after starring in 11 seasons of the hit show.

During Monday's episode of the podcast titled "Call It Cuffing Season," Luddington said she was with other actors in the audience and the concert was a "good vibe," but she was left disappointed when it ended.

Luddington had hoped that she would have the opportunity to meet the singer like Capshaw had previously. Unfortunately, she said security escorted her and other VIP guests out of the stadium, comparing it to a "military operation."

Newsweek emailed spokespeople for Luddington and Swift for comment on Tuesday.

"And then it ended and I was like, 'Oh this is the moment someone's going to grab me and be like, 'It's time for you to meet Taylor like Jessica Capshaw.' And instead, you know what actually happened? Like, 20 minutes before the show even ended they were like, 'Some people are leaving now if you want to leave.' I was like, 'The secret room is clearly not happening,'" she explained.

"And in fact, as I was leaving, right, they took you through the back way and at one point the security guard turns to us like we were in a war movie, right? Like we were in Saving Private Ryan. He goes, 'Stop! Everyone pause.' And I was like, 'Oh my god, what's happening?' And he was like, 'We need to let Taylor leave first, she leaves and then you guys leave.' So it wasn't just that I didn't get to go to the secret room, it's that I couldn't even be within 100 feet of her leaving in case we caught eyes.

"I was like 'Damn,' it was like a military operation. I couldn't even walk near her so, it didn't happen for me Jessica, it did not happen for me."

Capshaw and her daughter Josephine had previously met Swift backstage at one of her Eras Tour concerts in Paris. She told People that "It was a magical, magical thing."

"Oh there is always another time," Capshaw said during the podcast, to which Luddington asked: "Is there?"

"Yes! The world is full of possibilities...I deeply believe in hope," Capshaw responded.

The singer-songwriter kicked off the final leg of her tour on October 18, more than 18 months after it first launched in March 2023. Since then, the Eras Tour has gone on to become the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. When it finishes this December, Swift will have completed 149 concerts.

The 34-year-old performed three consecutive shows in Indianapolis, from November 1 to November 3. These shows marked her last Eras Tour shows in the U.S. The tour will continue through December 8, when it will end in Vancouver, Canada.
