The wildfires raging across Los Angeles County have forced a host of TV productions to stop filming for the time being.
More than a dozen L.A.-based shows, ranging from Grey’s Anatomy to The Price Is Right, have paused production as fires in Pacifc Palisades, Altadena and elsewhere in the region have forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate and destroyed homes and businesses. A freak windstorm coupled with very dry conditions sparked numerous fires across Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Among the shows stopping production are Max’s Hacks, NBC’s Happy’s Place and Suits LA, Apple TV+’s Loot and Peacock’s Ted, all from Universal Studio Group; CBS’ After Midnight, NCIS, NCIS: Origins, The Neighborhood, Poppa’s House (all produced by CBS Studios) and The Price Is Right (Fremantle); and ABC’s Doctor Odyssey, Grey’s Anatomy and Jimmy Kimmel Live, all from 20th Television. Film LA, the Los Angeles city and county film office, has issued an advisory that all permits for filming in Altadena, La Crescenta, La Cañada Flintridge and unincorporated Pasadena — near the site of the Eaton Fire — have been withdrawn for the time being. Film LA also “advise[s] the production community that personnel resources ordinarily available to support film production may not be available during the local State of Emergency.”
