Gwen Stefani Reveals How Blake Shelton Changed Her Perspective on Beauty After They Began Dating

Gwen Stefani feels like Blake Shelton gave her a second chance at love, and that includes learning to love the most important person in her life — herself. The 55-year-old pop star’s new album, Bouquet, reflects her marriage and the wonderful eye-opening discoveries she made after falling in love with the former Voice judge. 

Stefani gave a vulnerable interview on The Drew Barrymore Show about her single, “Pretty,” and what it really means to her. “I was looking back in my life, at all of the photos, like physical and inner beauty of myself,” she said to Drew Barrymore. “I was thinking about eighth grade, I’m like staring in the mirror in the gym, right, like by myself going, “Am I cute? I can’t tell.’ You know when you’re trying to figure out if you are or not?”

Stefani went back through her photo archives and realized that as an adult she feels “the prettiest” when she’s with her husband. “It was right when Blake started loving me,” she revealed. “I wanted to write a song about that because when you actually feel love for the first time, they reflect you. You can see yourself in them.”

Stefani has been vocal about her solid marriage to Shelton since they walked down the aisle in 2021, often at the expense of her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. She recently told The Guardian, “Meeting my husband felt like a second chance at life because when my family fell apart it was a catastrophe. How do you pick yourself up from that? But God put this other person there to love me.”

The end of her marriage to the Bush frontman was brutal because he allegedly carried on a three-year affair with the couple’s nanny, Mindy Mann. “The iPad was linked to Gavin’s phone,” an insider told Us Weekly in 2015. “One of the other nannies discovered the exchange and told Gwen.” 

Now that she’s with Shelton, Stefani feels confident in the relationship because she knows his love for her is real — and she can’t stop gushing about him. “I didn’t see any of this coming with Blake,” she told People in September 2023. “This was just a big old ‘What?’ It was an amazing gift to experience love like that for the first time. He’s changed my life … when I [started dating] Blake, that’s when I felt home, like, ‘Oh, this is where I’m supposed to be, with this guy.’”

It’s a true Hollywood love story!
