Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple, 20, has faced criticism after a clip surfaced from her debutante ball in Paris.
The event, which took place on Saturday at the luxurious $1,000-a-night Hotel Shangri-La, saw Apple among 20 young women presented at the prestigious Le Bal des Débutantes.
Dressed in a chic strapless sky-blue gown from Valentino’s Spring 2025 collection, Apple looked stunning on the night. However, things took a turn when a video surfaced showing her behaviour towards another debutante during a photoshoot.
As the other young woman posed for her photo, Apple walked into the frame from behind, striking a pose with her hands on her hips and pushing the other girl out of the way. The other debutante awkwardly laughed as Apple continued to pose and pout for several shots.
After finishing her turn, Apple moved aside but in the process nearly cut off another debutante who was waiting for her own picture. The footage, shared by French outlet Paris Match on TikTok, quickly sparked backlash on social media.

A third person commented, "Not good behaviour for such an event," and a fourth said it was "giving Regina George," referring to the famous Mean Girls character known for her mean girl persona.
However, not everyone was critical. Some defended Apple, suggesting that the two girls might be friends. "That looked obnoxious, but she probably was joking," one person wrote, while another remarked, "Oh gosh they're obviously friends and the girl in black was stepping out of frame anyways. She's acting her age."
Gwyneth has previously praised her daughter’s 'sense of entitlement,' explaining that it helps her break down gender inequalities. "They have, and I mean this word in the best possible way, a sense of 'entitlement' that's beautiful," the actress told People. "It's not spoiled, [they] are here for what the boys are going to get too," she added. "I find it very uplifting and heartening that we all seem to be going in this direction together."
At the event, Gwyneth was joined by ex-husband and Coldplay star Chris, their 18-year-old son Moses, and her mother, Blythe Danner. Another video from the event showed Apple glaring at a woman who appeared to be encroaching on the family’s photograph.
The exclusive ball, hosted by Ophélie Renouard, invites only a select few guests based on their appearance, intelligence, and family connections. The event is a charity fundraiser benefiting two organizations focused on children's health. Attendees include European royalty and the daughters of A-list celebrities.
Each debutante is paired with a male partner, known as a chevalier, typically from a prestigious family. Apple was accompanied by Count Leo Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck.
