The Haas Factory Team has announced its new Competition Director, Nick Sandler, who comes from RFK Racing with two decades of experience, including a role as a crew chief.
This appointment highlights Haas Factory Team's expansion as they prepare to collaborate closely with RFK Racing starting in 2025.
By bringing in Sandler, along with other former RFK Racing employees, Haas Factory Team is making a strong bid to enhance its operations within NASCAR.
The Haas Factory Team is about to set out on a new journey in NASCAR after emerging from the closure of Stewart-Haas Racing, a team that had been successful since its establishment in 2009, securing 69 Cup Series wins and two championships with Tony Stewart in 2011 and Kevin Harvick in 2014.
Gene Haas, well-known for founding Haas Automation and HaasTooling.com, decided to keep one of the SHR charters to field a single-car team in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Oversight of the newly established Haas Factory Team will be managed by Joe Custer, the Chief Operating Officer and a trusted associate of Gene Haas.
Coinciding with Nick Sandler's role as the Competition Director for the Cup Series, Adam Gravitt will assume a similar position for the Xfinity Series.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Toney, who led the team to the 2023 Xfinity Series championship, will take his expertise to the No. 00 car, with driver Sheldon Creed.
The team posted to social media:
"NEWS: HFT Announces 2025 Organization Lineup.
"Jason Trinchere joins the team as crew chief for Sam Mayer.
"Jonathon Toney will be paired with Sheldon Creed.
"Nick Sandler will serve as the Cup Series competition director, while Adam Gravitt leads the Xfinity program."
The technical collaboration between Haas Factory Team and RFK Racing means that, practically speaking, Haas Factory Team serves as a fourth car within RFK Racing's operations.
