Singer-songwriter Halsey is reuniting with her “MaXXXine” director Ti West on a series that will mark her debut as a TV writer.

Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, will write a dark comedy series called “Bloodlust,” which is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios, an individual with knowledge of the project told IndieWire.

Halsey will be the creator, writer, and executive producer, while West will direct the series and executive produce. Mark Friedman, a producer on “Severance,” will serve as showrunner and an executive producer. Halsey’s manager Anthony Li will also executive produce.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project has been in development for years at Amazon MGM Studios.

There is no word on casting or if Halsey herself would appear in the series. As an actress, she most notably starred in the horror film “MaXXXine” from earlier this year, but she has also acted in the film “Americana,” made a cameo as herself in “A Star Is Born,” and has done voice work for “Sing 2” and other animated projects. Halsey previously wrote the Max original “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” from 2021, a companion film to her album of the same name, and in 2019 she pulled double duty as host and musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.”

For West, this is a return to TV after dabbling as a director on series like “Tales From the Loop,” “The Resident,” and “The Exorcist.” “MaXXXine” is his third film in a horror trilogy that also includes 2022’s “X” and “Pearl.”

Halsey is represented by UTA and The Lede Company. West is represented by CAA, LBI Entertainment, and Lichter Grossman. Friedman is repped by UTA, Chad Snopek Management, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.

Variety first reported the news.
