Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been seen offering comfort to those affected by the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles. The infernos have left thousands homeless, including celebrities like Paris Hilton and Anthony Hopkins.

The Sussexes disclosed that they have opened their Montecito residence to friends and family needing to flee the fires. They are also reported to have contributed essential items to the wildfire victims.

On Friday, the couple were spotted distributing food at the Pasadena Convention Centre, now an evacuation hub. They shared a warm embrace with World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andres, whose organisation is providing meals to those impacted.

Meghan opted for a casual look with a light blue shirt and cap, while Harry donned a black outfit. They also spent time with Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, who lauded their visit and efforts, describing them as "great people" with "great personalities," and noting how they lifted the spirits of first responders during a visit to the command post at the Rose Bowl.

As wildfires rage in Southern California, sources close to the Sussexes have conveyed their readiness to enter "crisis mode" for a potential evacuation of their home. It's understood that their security team has been busy formulating an emergency exit strategy, ensuring essentials for their children, Archie and Lilibet, are prepared, reports the Mirror.

A neighbour commented on the situation, remarking: "It's not chaos here yet but the fire is moving fast and we are not taking any chances."

In the face of these fires, Harry and Meghan, along with their local community, have received public safety kits featuring crucial items such as solar chargers, flashlights, and protective gear, as well as ice, water, snacks, and informational pamphlets on safety.

Before the urgency of the situation became apparent, the Duke and Duchess had publicly endorsed several fire service charities and other groups providing critical support, urging people to contribute to the relief efforts.

They released a statement saying: "In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life. A state of emergency has been issued. If you feel compelled to help, here are some resources and ideas."

The couple urged: "If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.

"Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children's toys and clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need."

The devastating wildfires in California have claimed 10 lives to date and caused widespread destruction, forcing thousands from their homes, including in celebrity-favoured locales.

Paris Hilton has been keeping her fans informed about the tragic loss of her home, which she witnessed being consumed by flames on live television. In an emotional Instagram post, she likened the inferno to "hell" on earth. "Heartbroken to find out what happened to my house by seeing that it was burned to the ground on live TV," she shared alongside a video of the fire's aftermath.
