Lil' Romeo burst onto the scene and had huge success in the early 2000s thanks to his talents as a young rapper and actor.

The American former child star, now 35, was known for hits including My Baby (released in 2001 when he was 11), My Girlfriend and My Cinderella, and earned cult status among his young fans when he scored his own Nickelodeon TV show called Romeo! which ran from 2003 to 2006.

But music is in his blood and his family boasts some impressive music credentials.

He is the son of rapper, music mogul, record label founder and hip hop star Master P, 54, who helped him launch his career, and his ex-wife, and former rapper, Sonya C.

However, most fans will remember him for his breakout role in the hit 2003 dance and romance film, Honey, starring Jessica Alba as Honey Daniels, music superstar Missy Elliott, Joy Bryant as Gina and Lil' Romeo as Benny.

The film performed well at the box office and helped put the young star on the map. He was just 11 at the time.

It followed the story of Honey Daniels finding her feet as a music video choreographer and teaching dance in her community.

In January, the star reflected on his role in the film, admitting he "never sat back and enjoyed my early accomplishments" as he shared an inspiring message to fans on Instagram.

"At the age of 11 I began my film career, I starred in my very first film HONEY w/ @jessicaalba that became a box office hit and classic worldwide," he began.

"I never sat back and enjoyed my early accomplishments because I was taught that the past success doesn't matter, but this year I realised that it all matters. That's what makes you YOU.

"Reflection is wisdom. It's that little kid in you, that'll remind you to continue to dream big and keep going. Caring for your inner child has power.

"Taking it back, to skyrocket forward! Blessings and #HappyNewYear future superstars. Believe. MARK 9:23."

Now 35, he says in his official Instagram account bio that he's an actor, MTV host, philanthropist and a show creator among other things. He more recently starred on the show, Growing Up Hip Hop.

Born Percy Romeo Miller, he now goes by the name Romeo Miller and is a proud father of two.

He shares daughter River Rose and Winter Snoh with Drew Sangster, who he is reportedly engaged to.

Speaking about fatherhood, he said in a recent Instagram post: "Dada has lived a lot of life, my job now is to make sure you do the same and to pour into whatever shape your glass may be; your happiness comes first.

"This isn't a sacrifice, this is simply parenthood."

He also called his daughters the "loves of his life" and wrote: "I've accomplished a lot of things in my life, but becoming a father is by far the best and most fulfilling. You made me see."

However Miller has certainly had his challenges.

In May 2024, he told fans in a candid post that he had been "involved in an horrific car accident on the freeway".

"The first few weeks [of 2024] started off with a bang! And then I was involved in an horrific car accident on the freeway," he wrote.

"All I could think about is playing in the backyard with my girls.

"Me and my cousin walked away alive, but soon I'll find out that I'll have to reset and cancel most of my life for the next few months to properly heal in peace and private."

"My head injuries made everything difficult, but after my successful neck/spinal procedures and clearance to get back to my active life, I realised that what I prayed for going into the new year wasn't what I needed, but what I selfishly wanted."

Tragedy also hit his family when his sister Tytyana Miller died at the age of 29 in 2022.

"Our family is dealing with an overwhelming grief for the loss of my daughter Tytyana," Master P wrote on Instagram at the time.

"Mental illness & substance abuse is a real issue that we can't be afraid to talk about. With God, we will get through this," he added in part of his post.

Her death was reportedly ruled as an accidental fentanyl overdose.

Romeo and his father Master P reportedly had a bit of a public ''feud'' which, according to Complex, came about "after Romeo appeared to blame his father for the death of his sister by ignoring her struggles with mental health".

Just Jared reported in 2022 that Romeo allegedly "accused his father of stealing money throughout his career".

However, they have reportedly reconciled and Master P later told Rolling Out: "I just think nobody's perfect. No family is perfect. Everybody goes through stuff … it's all about educating our people. Not only educating my family, but I also had to hold myself accountable and I need to educate people around me."

In 2020, Romeo's mum Sonya Miller, according to Essence, allegedly filed a lawsuit against him "claiming his father was attempting to hide money for their divorce settlement".

But in October, Romeo shared a sweet tribute to his mother proving there's no bad blood between them.

"Being a father now, simply I don't know how you did it (and do it). Truly amazed by your strength and loving heart. This Bee Gees is me and my Mama song! Happy happy Bday beautiful and know that Tyty is celebrating up in heaven. Love u🤍 - Your eldest R," part of his post read.
