'Heartbroken' Simon Cowell arrives at Liam Payne's funeral to pay respects

Simon Cowell has arrived at Liam Payne's funeral.

The music mogul, who helped launch Liam's career while part of One Direction, attended the event wearing an all-black suit, a black turtleneck jumper and black sunglasses. He was accompanied by Lauren Silverman, who also wore a black suit and accessorised with black sunglasses and a handbag.

Liam's family, friends and loved ones gathered in the home counties to pay their final respects to the beloved singer. Payne sadly died on 16 October in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

While on holiday Liam tragically fell from a third-floor balcony. His death shook the nation as fans gathered online to share their disbelief at the horrifying news.

Tributes flooded in for Liam, including from Simon himself. The X Factor judge took to social media to share a message with his followers.

Cowell wrote: "You never really know how you feel about someone until a moment like this happens. Liam I am devastated. Heartbroken. And I feel empty. And I want you to know how much love and respect I have for you. Every tear I have shed is a memory of you.

"This is so difficult to put into words right now. I went outside today, and I thought about so many times we had together."

"I wanted to let you know what I would always say to the thousands of people who would always ask me. What is Liam like? And I would tell them you were kind, funny, sweet, thoughtful, talented, humble, focused. And how much love you genuinely had for the fans."

Liam's loved ones gathered to attend his funeral (20 November). Alongside Simon, other famous faces at the memorial include ex-girlfriend Cheryl, her Girls Aloud bandmates, Liam's former One Direction co-stars and DJ Scott Mills.
