Hero Dog Getting Help to 'Save Grandpa's Life' Captured by Doorbell Cam

The internet was brought to tears after a doorbell camera captured the moment a dog heroically saved his grandpa who had fallen.

The footage from the doorbell camera shared in a December 27 TikTok video posted to the account @thisiskaiserr showed Kai the Doberman running out the front door and into the neighborhood street on a mission. He barked to see if any neighbor would notice and listen. It was the only thing he thought to do after his grandpa fell inside the home and was "unresponsive."

Once his grandpa fell, Kai sprang into action. The text on the video explained that Kai somehow managed to open the round door handle, which let him go in and out. He would run outside barking for help but then go back inside to check on his grandpa. Kai continued until someone finally called police.

The timestamps on the video revealed Kai kept trying to alert someone for about an hour and a half. He never gave up, knowing it was truly a life-or-death situation for his grandpa.

When the officer arrived, he first made sure Kai was friendly before cautiously walking to the house. He then noticed that the grandfather needed help. The next part of the video jumped to paramedics on the scene, wheeling the grandfather out of the house and into the ambulance.

One of the most amazing parts of the rescue is that Kai was "never trained to do this." His intuition kicked in and he knew what needed to be done to "save grandpa's life."

A follow-up video shared that the grandfather stayed in the ICU for 10 days. He had sepsis, a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body's immune system overreacts to an infection. It can cause the organs to work poorly. A few symptoms include changes in mental status, fast or shallow breathing, lightheadedness, shivering, or sweating for no clear reason.

The text on the clip stated: "He would have died if he hadn't made it to the hospital in time."
