The season 4 winners of HGTV’s renovation competition “Battle on the Beach,” Sean and Sam Kilgore, are settling into life as a family of four following the arrival of their second child on November 11, 2024. Two weeks after their baby’s birth, the couple shared on Instagram that they had welcomed a baby boy named Walker Wesley, posting a series of newborn photos.
“Walker Wesley we could not love you more,” they captioned the post. “Our little 11/11 boy, life has been extra sweet with you around. 🤍”
Sean and Sam Kilgore Announced They Were Expecting During Season Finale
The Kilgores revealed they were expecting during the show’s July 15 season finale, but the season was filmed in early 2024 in Oak Island, North Carolina. At the time, the couple had their five-month-old son Leighton in tow, who was cared for by family members while they competed each day.
During their last challenge of the season, Sam surprised Sean with the baby news on-camera, and they later informed their mentor, interior designer and longtime ‘BOTB’ cast member Taniya Nayak.
On their baby announcement post, Nayak commented, “Awe from auntie Taniya 🤍🤍🤍 love you!”
Baby Walker’s arrival is part of a huge year for the Kilgores, who renovated their Michigan farmhouse for HGTV’s four-part docuseries “I Bought a Dump…Now What?,” which premiered in late April 2022.
Nayak helped the couple come out of season 4 of “BOTB” victorious, with the highest increase in home value among the beach houses renovated by three pairs of competitors. The Kilgores managed to raise their home’s value by 47% using a budget of $100,000 — the largest in the show’s history. The Kilgores won $50,000 as the season 4 winners.
Days after the season finale, the couple shared their baby news on Instagram and Sam thanked HGTV’s production team “for keeping me stocked with sour patch kids so I didn’t puke mid-workday 👏”
Sam & Sean Kilgore Were Hesitant to Sign On for ‘Battle on the Beach’
Though they came out victorious, the Kilgores hesitated to compete on “BOTB” before when they got the call, in part because they had recently welcomed their first child and the show would require them to be away from home for two months.
“It was a tough decision to go on the show, because our baby was only five months old at the start of filming,” they wrote on their blog. “We also both work full time jobs. Up and leaving on such short notice felt insane.”
“Luckily, our families were super supportive and excited for the opportunity,” they continued. “They alternated coming down to North Carolina to help with Leighton and helping back home at our house with our cat Atlas and flock of chickens.”
On June 2, the Kilgores posted a video recorded in February to their Instagram Stories, showing all the gear, diapers and suitcases they had to pack in order to take their baby along for the ride — not only for a 14-hour drive to North Carolina, but to last the duration of the competition.
When they won the show, they celebrated with a social media post that thanked their family for making it possible for them to compete, writing, “Thank you so so much to our family that helped out with Leighton, Atlas, the chickens and watched the house while we were working.”
