Home Improvement alum Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested for domestic violence in South Carolina.
The actor and film producer, 43, was arrested and booked by Myrtle Beach Police on Thursday, January 2, and is facing a second-degree domestic violence charge, according to records from the Horry County Sheriff’s Office viewed by The Sun News. He remains incarcerated as of Friday, January 3, the outlet reported. Zachery’s bond was set at $10,000.
This was not Zachery’s first arrest for domestic violence. In July 2023, authorities in Eugene, Oregon, responded to a report of a physical altercation between the Fast and the Furious star and an unnamed woman. Zachery’s fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright — who was not listed in court documents regarding his arrest — released a statement in August 2023.
“I always want what’s best for the father of my children,” Johnnie, who shares daughter Kennedy and twins Parker and Sequoia with Zachery, told Us Weekly at the time. “Trauma can bring struggles in many shapes and forms. It’s a horrible situation that’s going to be spun in so many ways. I’ve learned firsthand the truth will never align with what’s been put out there. I ask everyone to please be respectful of our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so the healing process can begin.”
Zachery pleaded guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence in October 2023. He was sentenced to 36 months of supervised probation and seven days in jail after reaching a plea negotiation.
Zachery was ordered to avoid contact with the victim unless he received approval from his probation officer. He also had to abstain from alcohol and drug consumption as well as receive treatment for alcohol and substance abuse.
“Mr. Bryan decided to accept this resolution and admit that he recklessly caused physical injury to his domestic partner to avoid further trauma to his family so they could move on and heal,” his attorney, John Kolego, told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.
A previous domestic violence incident in October 2020 led Zachery to plead guilty to menacing and fourth-degree assault, He was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to enter a violence-intervention program.
Zachery also has a history of DUI arrests. In 2020, he was booked for a DUI and entered a guilty plea in May 2020. Zachery was sentenced to five years of probation, as well as 18 months of a multiple-offender alcohol program.
In his recent incident in February 2024, he was arrested for a suspected DUI with three or more priors after being pulled over at a traffic stop, according to Us Weekly. The Magic Island star was also booked for contempt of court by the La Quinta Police Department.
In March 2024, TMZ reported that Zachery was charged with a felony following the arrest and faced additional charges due to being a repeat offender who had a DUI conviction within the last 10 years. He also faced a misdemeanor hit and run and property damage charge.
Zachery is most known for playing Bradley Michael “Brad” Taylor, the oldest son of Timothy “Tim” Taylor, on the 90s sitcom Home Improvement, starring Tim Allen as the family patriarch.
