With former President Donald Trump on the verge of securing a second term in the White House, billionaire Elon Musk took to social media to celebrate.
"Game, set and match," Musk wrote at 10:32 p.m. ET on November 5 on X, formerly Twitter, which he owns. He later shared a post from user @BasedBeffJezos calling Trump the "CEO, CMO, CTO of the USA."
Just after midnight, Musk posted a photograph of himself in conversation with Trump at campaign headquarters, adding, "The future is gonna be so [fire emoji]."
Musk has shown his support for Trump during the campaign, contributing $75 million to the pro-Trump America PAC he co-founded. He also hosted town halls for the super PAC, joined Trump at campaign events and co-hosted a livestreaming X Spaces session with him.
In another election night post, Musk wrote, "Let that sink in," referencing the moment in October 2022 when he entered Twitter headquarters in San Francisco with a sink in his hands after buying the social media platform.
The billionaire posted a digitally edited image of the moment superimposed onto a photograph of the Oval Office.
Musk's followers replied in approval, with one saying: "Elon Musk did not pay 44 Billion USD to buy Twitter. He paid that amount to change America's history. It all makes sense now. X has created a new history today."
Another X user added, "You need to do it for real on January 21st."
"You are the media now," the Tesla CEO wrote, building on his narrative of what he has called "legacy media election interference." He has previously alleged on X that legacy media "lies licentiously" and "sits upon a throne of lies," adding that "citizen journalism is vastly superior to legacy media journalism."
In one of his latest posts, which directly referenced Trump, Musk said, "The people of America gave @realDonaldTrump a crystal clear mandate for change tonight."
Newsweek contacted Elon Musk and Donald Trump for comment via email outside normal working hours.
What Trump Said About Musk
In a speech from his Mar-a-Lago resort, Trump praised the SpaceX CEO, saying, "Let me tell you, we have a new star. A star is born: Elon.
"He's an amazing guy," Trump continued, adding about the recent SpaceX launch, "You know, he sent the rocket up two weeks ago, and I saw that rocket."
"I called Elon. I said, 'Elon, was that you?' He said, 'Yes, it was.' I said: 'Who else can do that? Can Russia do it? No. Can China do it? No. Can the United States do it, other than you? No, nobody can do that,'" he said, referring to the Starship rocket booster that was retuned to its launch site and caught with mechanical arms.
"I said: 'That's why I love you, Elon. That's great,'" Trump added.
Describing the Starlink satellite system that was deployed in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene, Trump said: "It saved a lot of lives. He saved a lot of lives. He's a character. He's a special guy. He's a super genius. We have to protect our geniuses. We don't have that many of them. We have to protect our super geniuses."
