STEP1: At first, open your WhatsApp account and click on the three dots on the right side of the screen.
STEP2: Now click on the settings menu and tap on the Account option
STEP3: The step 3 involves clicking on the Privacy option. The option will take you to the Groups feature.
STEP4: Now default setting of Groups is likely to be set on ‘Everyone’
STEP5: You can change this setting either to ‘Everyone’, ‘My Contacts’, and ‘My Contacts Except’
STEP6: It is important to keep in mind that if you select Everyone option then it will give permission to anyone with your phone number to add you in a group without your permission.
STEP7: The My Contact option will only allow contacts in your WhatsApp to add you in the group
