The Buckeyes' journey to the Cotton Bowl has been anything but smooth. After a shocking 13-10 loss to rival Michigan, Ohio State fans were ready to send Ryan Day the door, but as the playoffs unfolded, they silenced the doubters.

In the first round, the Buckeyes dismantled Tennessee 42-17. Their offense was on fire, racking up 156 rushing yards and 317 passing yards.

They followed that on New Year's Day, stunning Oregon 41-21 in the Rose Bowl. The Buckeyes jumped out to a 34-0 lead before Oregon managed a late first-half score, and the defense was lights-out, holding the Ducks to minus-23 rushing yards.

RB TreVeyon Henderson led the charge with 94 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, while QB Will Howard added 319 passing yards and 3 touchdowns, making the Buckeyes look like a team on a mission.

The Longhorns' path to the Cotton Bowl has been equally impressive, in the first round, Texas handled Clemson with a 38-24 win.

It was the New Year's Day thriller against Arizona State that truly defined Texas' playoff spirit. Down 31-24 in overtime, with a 91.2% win probability for Arizona State according to ESPN Analytics, QB Quinn Ewers connected with WR Matthew Golden on a 28-yard touchdown pass to force a second overtime. The Longhorns seized the momentum, scoring in 2OT to secure a heart-stopping 39-31 victory.

This will be a great night of college football, who will come out on top and meet the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the National Championship on January 20?
