U.S. Figure Skating Championships 2025 Competitors, Predictions

Four senior national titles are up for grabs this week as the country’s top figure skaters compete across the men’s, women’s, pairs and ice dance fields.

The field includes every national champion from last year: Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn, ice dancers Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and pairs team Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea.

Chock and Bates double as reigning world champions and are favorites to win the ice dance competition at Nationals. The rest of the podium should feature Caroline Green and Michael Parsons, along with Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko.

Armed with her trademark triple axel, Glenn was the top women’s singles skater during the fall Grand Prix Series, winning the Grand Prix final title. Glenn is only the sixth American woman to ever land a clean triple Axel in international competition. She took home her first U.S. title last year and is expected to repeat in 2025.

“Quad God” Ilia Malinin is the defending men’s champion and once again predicted to repeat as National Champion. He’ll be challenged by former World Top 5 finisher Camden Pulkinen.

The pairs event is wide open and top contenders include former silver medalists Emily Chan and Spencer Howe, and breakout stars Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanov, in addition to Kam and O’Shea.

Terry Gannon once again returns to handle play-by-play, with 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir as analysts. Five-time U.S. ice dance champ and Olympic silver medalist Ben Agosto will be an analyst on the ice dance events, and Andrea Joyce returns as a reporter.
