Hugh Grant reveals how he accidentally ‘poisoned’ his kids giving them worms

Hugh Grant has revealed that he has ‘started cooking for the first time in 64 years’ and immediately gave his family worms.

The Bridget Jones’ Diary actor, who was recently nominated for a Bafta, has recalled a gruesome story involving his recent foray into cooking.

He revealed in an interview with Renée Zellweger that he has managed to poison his family with ‘undercooked chicken’.

Speaking to Vogue and his Bridget Jones co-star the actor said: ‘Do you know I’ve started cooking for the first time in 64 years.

‘I can’t stop barbecuing. Can’t stop buying barbecue equipment. And now that it’s winter, I’ve moved indoors and I can’t stop buying Le Creuset.’

He added: ‘I’ve poisoned my family twice, given them worms.’

‘Undercooked chicken. Twice. It was dark, you see. It was on the barbecue and I stuck my Heston Blumenthal prod into it. I couldn’t quite read it.

‘So I served it out – worms all round. And the children now beg me not to cook.’

Hugh has five children, Tabitha,13, and Felix, 11 from his relationship with Tinlan Hong. Plus three children with his wife Anna Eberstein, John, 12, Lulu, 9, and Blue, 6.

The actors are best known for playing opposite each other as Bridget Jones and Daniel Cleaver and are set to return to the screen in February as their beloved noughties characters.

In a recent interview, Hugh admitted that he had to create a backstory for his character to explain what he has been up to in the 21 years since he was last seen in the 2004 film, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.

‘The one we’ve just made, he’s considerably older. 24 years older or something and I did worry about the “Hello, nice little skirt Jones.”

‘[It] is great but would be borderline tragic for a man in his early 60s,’ he told Vanity Fair.

He added: ‘So we invented a whole interim story in which he did get together with some woman and he did have a kid and they’re estranged, of course, cause he shags her sister. And he hasn’t seen his son in 10 years.’

‘It just made him a bit more…,’ he said, looking for the words. ‘I think if he had just been walking up and down Kings Road chatting up girls for 24 years, it would have been hard to endure him.’
