Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster Might Have Been Giving Hints About Their Reported Crush on Each Other

Hugh Jackman‘s reported romance with Sutton Foster came as a shock to many movie fans, but Broadway insiders believe that there were hints about The Music Man co-stars’ chemistry. The rumor mill went into overdrive in December 2023 just months after Jackman split with his wife of 27 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, but the story didn’t get much traction until now. 

After Foster filed for divorce on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from her husband of 10 years, Ted Griffin, insiders started putting the clues together that the two musical theater sensations might be involved with each other. In a 2022 interview with Vogue, the 49-year-old Younger actress gushed about Jackman and how their families often got together on their days off from the show.

“He has an impeccable reputation of being the hardest working man, incredibly kind, and generous. And all of that is true. He disarms everyone and he doesn’t make anything about him,” she said enthusiastically. “And he’s now become one of my best friends, which was a surprise because you usually go into these things thinking, ‘Well, I hope we get along.’ But we just spent Memorial Day with our families. It’s really fun to meet new friends after 40.” Jackman and Furness share two children, son Oscar, 23, and daughter Ava, 19, and Foster and Griffin share daughter Emily, 7. 

The Wolverine star was equally as enamored of Foster, telling Seth Myers on Late Night in May 2022 that he was in awe of her talent. “This is a six-time Tony nominee, two-time winner. Like, I saw her do Thoroughly Modern Millie when you were like 4 years old. But I’ve watched everything she’s done,” he shared. “It’s amazing. And I’m the guy who, in my first show, Beauty and the Beast, it was in my contract that I had to have singing lessons once a week.”

They even shared a cute story about the audience noticing Marian Paroo and Harold Hill’s chemistry and yelling, “Kiss her already!” from the seats. Now, we have to guess the Broadway fans were noticing Jackman and Foster’s undeniable heat on that stage. “Broadway was nonexistent for almost two years. And I feel like there’s this shared sense of gratitude between the people onstage and the audience. And the show is so joyful, and I’m having the time of my life playing opposite this guy,” she added.

“You had to say that, but thank you,” Jackman quipped. 

“I did!” Foster joked. “But it’s like — it’s a dream come true. Truly.”

The dynamic duo has not confirmed their romance, but Page Six sources are insistent that Jackman and Foster are “in love.” Now, fans have to wait for a red-carpet debut — perhaps the 2025 Tony Awards?
