Hysterics Over What Pug Does 'Every Single Time' Owner Leaves the House

A pet owner has shown how his pug lets his feelings be known whenever his human companion leaves the house without him

The bond between man or woman and dog is a strong one and it's far from one-sided. In 2020, a study conducted by the pet friendly holiday company Canine Cottages sought to explore whether dogs experienced a physiological response to their human companions.

Four dogs were fitted with heart monitors for a week while researchers tested out a variety of scenarios. They found that dogs' heart rates increased by around 10 percent on average when they saw their human and 46 percent when they heard them say the magic words "I love you."

Cuddling up to their human companion was also shown to have a positive impact, with heart rates decreasing by an average of 22.7 percent among the test group. Little wonder then that some dogs react in such a dramatic way when they are apart from their human friends. Junior the rescue pug is a case in point.

"We adopted him four years ago when he was a puppy," Daniel, Junior's owner, from Las Vegas, told Newsweek. "He was from a breeder and they thought he had health issues so they surrendered him to the rescue."

Their loss proved to be Daniel's gain, with Junior blossoming into a happy little dog living alongside two old female pugs, who were also rescued. "He loves the zoomies, car rides, going to the pet store and he's very attached to me," Daniel said.

Proof of just how attached he is came courtesy of a video Daniel posted to his TikTok account vegaspuglife, showing how Junior behaves anytime Daniel dares to leave the house without him.

In the clip, Junior can be seen lying in his bed, motionless, looking off into the distance with a seemingly forlorn look on his face. You don't need to be a canine body language expert to tell how he is feeling.

According to Daniel, Junior puts on this little performance "every single time" he leaves the house. "He's just really attached to me. The other two girls are fine. If I go out of town he'll just sit there and look at the door," he said.

Junior's antics have been keeping people on social media entertained, with many of those commenting about similar experiences involving their own pugs. "If I put my purse on my shoulder, my pug starts to panic," one viewer wrote.

"My pug is the same when I go outside gets really sad," another said, with a third adding: "My pug is exactly like this. Mine is such a drama queen."

Daniel has his own theory as to why Junior is so attached. "I think it's because I was the one that trained all three and gave them food during their meal time," he said.

Then again, it could be down to the fact Junior experienced rejection as a puppy. He need not worry though. Daniel is here for keeps. Tantrums or no tantrums.
