I snapped up the Harry Potter Honeydukes Oodie with 50% off

Oodie is among the many retailers starting their Black Friday sale extravaganzas early, with the brand now offering up to 60% off its iconic oversized blanket hoodies. As a home worker, I'm always looking for ways to keep warm throughout the colder months without needing to have the heating on.

I own a few blanket hoodies that do a great job at keeping me warm, however I've always been intrigued as to whether an official Oodie would do the job better. I've been reluctant to buy one due to the high price tag, especially as my Primark and Jim Jam The Label alternatives do keep me feeling snug.

This all changed when Oodie announced its Black Friday sale and I spotted the adorable Harry Potter Honeydukes blanket hoodie with a 50% discount, priced at £37.50 down from £75. I couldn't resist buying it and have been wearing it every day since it arrived - I can now say I understand the hype.

While my cheaper alternative blanket hoodies keep me warm, there are significant differences. The most notable is the length of the garments, as the Oodie is much longer than the others I own. It finishes way below my knee, meaning the soft sherpa fleece lining covers the majority of my body.

The other big difference is the size of the hood, as it is huge, enveloping my whole head and the upper half of my face. Another unique feature is the ginormous pocket on the front of the hoodie which also has the sherpa fleece lining, perfect for keeping your hands warm. It's even big enough to store a hot water bottle in for extra warmth when the weather gets really cold.

The Oodie has elasticated wrists that are comfortable and practical, especially while I'm typing away at my desk or doing the washing up. I've found that sometimes I only need a t-shirt underneath the Oodie, whereas I need to wear a jumper or sweatshirt underneath my other blanket hoodies to feel warm, suggesting the Oodie is made from a warmer and thicker fabric.

The one thing that's worth noting is that Oodie only offers its blanket hoodies in one size, which is based on a 6XL hoodie. Although I love the oversized look and feel, some people may find it too big, small, long or short on their bodies.

There are many big discounts on offer, including on the navy Original Oodie (

As well as keeping me warm while working at my desk, the Oodie is perfect for relaxing on the sofa in while watching telly or reading a book. When I'm lying down, the hoodie is like having a big blanket wrapped around me - it's the comfiest garment I own.

Unfortunately the Honeydukes Oodie is currently sold out, however there are many more cosy oversized blanket hoodies with fun designs waiting to be snapped up and worn. You can browse Oodie's full Black Friday collection here.
