For many, a classic box of chocolates is essential throughout the festive period.

Whether you like a crunch in your chocolate, a smooth toffee or even coconut, a box of chocolates caters for everyone.

It can be irritating when buying a box of chocolates only to find a few of your favourites and plenty of the ones no one likes.

However, that’s the chance you take when you buy a box of chocolates, but is the amount you get of each chocolate really that fair?

We counted each chocolate from all four of the most popular chocolate tubs on the market, including Quality Street, Cadbury’s Roses, Cadbury’s Heroes and Celebrations.

Quality Street

Quality Street chocolates have been a popular festive favourite for many, launching back in 1936.

Strawberry Delight - 7

Orange Crunch - 5

Toffee Finger - 6

Milk Choc Block - 4

Toffee Penny - 6

Coconut Eclair - 7

Caramel Swirl - 8

Orange Creme - 7

Green Triangle - 4

The Purple One - 6

Fudge - 6

There were a whopping eight Caramel Swirls in the box, but only four Green Triangles.

Although the mix was slightly disappointing, it was a slight improvement on last year’s selection.

Roses

There were a total of 52 chocolates in this box of Roses, with a mix of all the flavours, but how many of each were there?

Golden Barrel - 6

Cadbury Dairy Milk Chunk - 7

This box of Roses had a slightly more even mix of chocolates compared to the others, although it was disappointing to see seven Cadbury Dairy Milk Chunks which can also be found in Heroes.

Celebrations

Celebrations have been around since 1997, comprising of a mix of their most popular chocolates.

The size of the tubs has decreased in recent years, reducing from 600 to 550g.

It was a disappointing mixture in this box of Celebrations, with a whopping 11 Milkyway chocolates, but only four Galaxy chunks.

Heroes

Heroes were introduced in 1999 and contain miniature versions of various Cadbury chocolate bars.

Last year, Cadbury faced supply chain issues with the bite-sized Twirls, but they have made a comeback this year, how many of each chocolate was there?

This box was very disappointing, with a whopping 11 Fudge sticks but only four Twirls.

A few years ago, a spokesperson for Nestle said the Quality Street assortment is made up of three different types of sweets, fruit cremes, chocolates and toffees and fudge.

Each tub is then broadly split into thirds along these lines which is why Britons may get more sweets like the Strawberry Delight and fewer Green Triangles.

A spokesperson for Cadbury said there can be some minor deviations in the mix due to manufacturing processes and the most important factor is listening to customers.
