When it comes to dressing for autumn and winter, coats are always the main event of your outfit. So it stands to reason that finding a great coat that goes with everything and makes a statement all on its own should be top of your seasonal wishlist.
If you’re still on the lookout for your new favourite bit of outerwear, I may just have found the perfect one thanks to Joe Browns’ Darling Dogstooth Coat, which manages to check off all the sartorial boxes when it comes to autumn/winter dressing. It also looks just like the Gold Label Houndstooth Trench from one of Kate Middleton’s go-to brands, Holland and Cooper, which retails for a whopping £1200

The Joe Browns coat, on the other hand, costs £130, and let me tell you – it’s worth every penny. If anything it feels even more expensive and luxurious than its price tag, with a beautiful weight to it and high quality-feeling materials.
It has a timeless print that makes an impact whilst still being versatile enough to wear with everything, and the black and white colour palette means it can be worn with any outfit combination. Whether you pair it with jeans and some ballet flats, a colourful midi dress or even over an evening dress, it works instantly – and I’m obsessed.

Joe Browns)It’s made from a cotton blend which has a soft almost wool-like finish to it, and the pattern is woven, rather than printed, making it look and feel high end. Even the lining, which is made from a red rose printed satin, feels premium.
Just like the Holland and Cooper version, it has statement buttons down the front with a double breasted fastening. It even has a faux fur collar that adds a little drama, although it can be detached for a more sleek silhouette if you prefer.
Even the silhouette is a classic, with a relaxed fit that tapers in ever so slightly at the waist, so even when it’s unbuttoned is still gives you a flattering shape. It also wasn’t too long on me – at 5ft4” full length coats can drown me – but this one stops at just the right length to be cosy and flattering.
You can pick up the Joe Browns coat directly from the website, or head over to Debenhams, where it’s currently priced at £135. Alternatively, if you want something more minimalist, you can get the bonprix Houndstooth Coat for £69, which has a similar monochrome houndstooth print but without the faux fur collar. It also comes in sizes 8-26.
