Sophie previously said that moving back to England after her split from Joe drastically improved her mental health.
A year after her highly publicized divorce from Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner is getting real about raising their daughters between two countries.

As you might remember, one of the most contentious issues of Joe and Sophie’s messy split last year was Sophie’s desire to raise their children in the UK, where she is from.

For context, Joe, Sophie, and their two daughters — Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2 — lived in the US and were based primarily in Miami. However, at some point in 2023, they decided to make plans to relocate permanently to England.

As we now know, Sophie and Joe wound up splitting before making the move to the UK as a family of four. And since their split, the exes have established a co-parenting situation whereby their girls are being raised between the UK and US.

Speaking with British Vogue in May, Sophie revealed that moving back to England post-divorce greatly improved her mental health, making her the “happiest [she’s] been in a really long time.”

“There’s something about a community and a support system that I’ve never realized is so important up until now,” she explained, revealing that she stopped taking medication for anxiety and depression after moving back to England.
“I think the reason I was on medication for so long is because I didn’t have those people with me,” she continued. “Now that I’m back home, I’m actually the happiest I’ve been in a really long time. I’m starting over again, rediscovering what I like to do, who I like to be with.”
But, in a brand new cover story for Harper’s Bazaar UK, the Game of Thrones star got honest about the downsides of co-parenting between countries, giving some insight into what it’s like for her when her daughters are spending time with their dad.

In the interview, which was conducted in London, it’s noted that Sophie was sleeping at her friend’s place, because she “hates” to be alone at her own house while her kids are away with Joe.

“It’s absolute agony,” she said, describing her loneliness without her children around.
Sophie — who fell unexpectedly pregnant with her first child shortly after her 24th birthday — then talked in more detail about motherhood, confessing that becoming a mom “changed [her] so much in every way.”

“Before I had kids, I was very depressed and anxious, and I would isolate [myself] a lot,” she said. “Now, I think I live my life for them.”
As an actor, Sophie has a pretty busy schedule, and the 28-year-old said it’s become super important to her that the girls see her as a “hard-working mum.”

“I want them to see me having a social life and enjoying work and thriving in my career and relationships,” she said. “I’ll come back and say, ‘This is why Mummy was away – it’s because she’s doing this for you, so Father Christmas can come with a big bundle of presents.’”
In that same Vogue interview from May, Sophie discussed her split from Joe and admitted she was “unhappy with the way everything played out,” but said they’re “doing the best [they] can” as co-parents.

“I’m confident that we can figure it out,” she added. “Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all that I can ask for.”
