I'm A Celeb's Danny Jones has fans in tears as admission about estranged father leaves him choked up

The latest series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues to foster strong bonds among campmates, as they open up about their personal hardships. On Thursday's episode (5 December), Danny Jones of McFly fame got candid with Oti Mabuse about the pain of being estranged from his father.

In a touching exchange, he shared his thoughts on changing his middle name, Alan. "My dad, he doesn't speak to me," he revealed.

Formerly a Strictly sensation, Oti asked: "But you say you went to therapy?" Danny admitted therapy's limitations, continuing: "I did but you can go to therapy, but you still crave your dad and that's what's hard. That's why I get so much satisfaction from Barry."

Danny opened up further, recounting: "I had a good relationship with my dad, he was my best mate until he left. I got on with my dad, I loved him to bits."

He reminisced fondly: "He was amazing yeah, we went to see Bolton Wanderers every weekend, got a Maccy Ds before, I've got great memories."

He continued, discussing the impact of his father's departure, saying: "He was a hugger, he was a kisser and then when he left us, that's when I had to grow up real fast, I bought my mum's house."

Having to assume responsibility at a young age, he recounted how he provided for his family. "I was 18-years-old, I bought myself a flat in London and I bought my mum's house, and I put my sister through university," he said.

Oti commented on how his bandmates have been there for him, likening them to paternal figures, as she said: "In a way McFly became your dad, they took care of you."

Danny acknowledged their incredible support, replying: "Those boys, they're amazing, I can talk to any of them."

As the episode aired, many viewers were deeply touched and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their feelings, reports Plymouth Live.

One viewer expressed their sympathy, tweeting: "Awwww Danny, my hearts breaking for him #ImACeleb #imacelebrity." (sic)

Another was overwhelmed by the heartfelt discussions, writing: "I can't deal with all these deep conversations [crying emojis]." (sic)

Yet another viewer was moved to comment: "The whole of the UK wanting to be Danny's father figure right now."

Meanwhile, a fourth fan showed unwavering support, stating: " I just love #DannyJones so much this why he deserves to win he is open and honest got so much love for him always have always will you're Just Amazing. " (sic)
