Reverend Richard Coles has received a wave of support after posting an emotional update after his stint on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The celebrity clergyman recently arrived back in the UK having reached the final of the popular ITV reality show. Richard entered the jungle as one of the later arrivals with former Love Island contestant Maura Higgins, capturing the hearts of viewers and fellow contestants alike to secure third place. Ahead of him were Coleen Rooney in second spot and chart-topper Danny Jones who nabbed the top prize.
On arriving back at Heathrow Airport on the morning of Wednesday (December 11), he told PA that his time in the jungle had been "fantastic". Speaking about his experience, the ex-Communards star expressed his delight: "It was great, (I'm) very happy to be back in the UK. (The show was) amazing, the whole thing was just fantastic and I had a great time."
When questioned regarding his festive plans, Coles responded: "Nothing, as little as possible, trying to persuade someone to make it for me," reports the Express.
On a more sombre note, Richard reflected on personal loss through social media as he remembered the birthday of his late husband, David. He marked the day with an image of David donning a face mask, accompanied by their four beloved dogs.
Richard shared a poignant tribute to his late partner David on what would have been his 48th birthday. Accompanying a photo, Richard penned: "David's birthday today. He would have been forty eight. RIP."
The touching post prompted an outpouring of condolences and support from his followers. @eliistender10 reached out with the words: "Thinking of you and sending lots of love."
@PONGYCARTOONS offered their sympathies: "Thoughts and prayers with you Richard embrace the time you had together." @LAWellbeing sent their comfort: "Sending lots of love and hugs. David would be very proud of you right now."
@CarolEGaskin expressed her thoughts: "Thinking of you today - David would be so proud of you and all that you have accomplished recently."
During his stint on I'm A Celeb, Richard shared fond memories of David with his campmates, revealing to Oti Mabuse in a heartfelt moment: "I miss him!"
He reminisced about how their relationship began, sharing a charming anecdote: "I came to preach a sermon in his church and he sort of picked me up afterwards!"
Richard elaborated on their first encounter, saying: "He heard me preach and afterwards he said that he was thinking about getting ordained and could he come and talk to me about it. So he came round one Sunday for lunch and it was all very proper and professional."
