Granted, jeans shopping isn’t easy. With the skinny jeans revival, a limitless number of brands to browse and an ever-growing colour wheel (or, in more specific denim terms, wash selection), there is, plain and simply, too much choice. Plus, different body shapes and sizes only make finding the perfect jeans shape more difficult, leaving most of us with one good old sturdy staple pair that we rarely waver from. Who doesn’t want to pull their perfectly fitting jeans on each and every morning? But it can leave your wardrobe feeling a little flat. Or, in my case, incredibly repetitive – in a boring, thoughtless way, not the chic, creative, sustainability-led style that’s plastered over Pinterest. So, six months ago, I picked up a pair slightly more daring than my go-to jeans designs, and they’re now one of the most regularly complimented items in my wardrobe.
Called the Levi's 'XL Straight', they're exactly as the name suggests: an incredibly exaggerated straight-leg cut (so large, in fact, I'd describe them as wide-leg) that screams 00s style, with or without the double denim waistcoat. Plus, they have a denim tie belt detail that only adds to the laidback look. To put it boldly, they're actually just incredibly cool, as I have been told by an enormous number of people. They've easily added a touch of interest to my usual outfit rotation, making simple looks all the more impactful, and, thanks to the oversized shape, they also offer the comfort of a great pair of denim. So, if I can convince you to add one thing to your wardrobe this year, it would have to be a more attention-grabbing pair of jeans.
