I made the tastiest ‘marry me chicken’ in my slow cooker - and it was the easiest dinner (Image: Sophie Harris)
With so many slow cookers on the market, it can be hard to know which one to go for.
However, they are becoming a must-have appliance in many households across the country, offering a delicious dinner which can just be thrown into it in the morning.
I’ve had many slow cookers over the years, but they never look very aesthetic, so have never wanted to keep them out on the kitchen side.
That was until I tried the Laura Ashley 3.5 litre slow cooker, a white appliance with gorgeous blue flowers across it.
It cooks delicious meals and makes me want to use it more because it looks so nice in my kitchen.
This one-bowl recipe was super delicious (Image: Sophie Harris)
Like all slow cookers, the appliance has an inner china dish in which the food is prepared and cooked, making there next to no washing up.
It has three heat settings as well as a warm setting and that’s it, it couldn’t be easier to use.
I’ve made several meals in it, including BBQ pulled chicken, but it was a Poppy Cooks “Marry Me Chicken” recipe which impressed my entire family.
The TikTok sensation has several easy recipes and I decided to try this one, not realising how delicious it would turn out to be.
Ingredients:
Three chicken breasts
Two tablespoons of tomato puree
300ml double cream
Half a garlic bulb peeled and crushed
100g sun-dried tomatoes in oil, drained (oil reserved) and chopped
100ml dry white wine
100g parmesan, grated
Half a lemon, juiced
Small handful of flat-leaf parsley, chopped
Salt and black pepper to season
Method:
1. Add the chicken to the slow cooker along with the tomato puree, double cream, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes with one tablespoon of oil, wine and parmesan.
2. Mix well, put the lid on and cook on high for two to three hours or on low for six to seven. My chicken took six hours on the low setting and it was divine.
3. Once the chicken is cooked and tender, season up with the lemon juice and parsley, serving immediately. I paired this with garlic parmesan potatoes and carrots, but rice also worked well.
There was plenty of room left in the slow cooker, so bigger meals such as stews would be perfect for this appliance.

I love how simple it is to use as well as being aesthetic in my kitchen, meaning I can leave it out all of the time.
The only downside is how heavy the inner bowl is, but this is the case in most slow cookers as they need to be able to hold heat well and maintain a consistent temperature.
I also cooked a whole chicken in the slow cooker which fit perfectly and it was the tastiest roast dinner ever.
It currently retails for £81 on AO.com which has a range of other slow cookers including the Swan Retro 3.5 litre slow cooker for just £27, or Sage’s The Fast Slow Pro Six Litre Pressure Cooker for £199.
Robert Dyas also has a range of slow cookers including the Morphy Richards 3.5L Sear & Stew Slow Cooker for £24.99 and the Daewoo 1.5L Slow Cooker for £14.99 if you’re after a smaller one.
