I tried the M&S Dine In Family Roast for £20 — and just one part of it costs £19

Like many families, Emaa Gill and her brood adore a good roast dinner, but finding the time to prepare one, particularly during the week, can be challenging.

Most of us would agree that after all the preparation and peeling, it can be quite disheartening to see it scoffed down in just a matter of minutes.

Emma said: "This is where the appeal of the M&S Dine In Family Roast deal comes in - where everything is ready to be tossed into the oven, air fryer or microwave, complete with those extra flavours and herbs for an authentic 'cooked from scratch' flavours."

The meal deal comes with variety of options including a gammon joint, chicken, beef or pork,as well as four sides and a pot of gravy.

Hungry for a traditional roast, Emma chose the Slow Roast Silverside of Beef Joint, along with peas and carrots, mash, Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets and some beef gravy.

Emma told the Manchester Evening News: "I like the fact that with M&S you know you're getting high-quality food, even if you are paying a premium for the privilege.

"Given that M&S can be on the pricey side, perhaps the most attractive part of this deal is that it's all available for £20. Considering our beef alone was priced at £19, you can see the kind of savings you're making"

"It also lived up to its promise of serving four to six people as each of the four of us each had enough to eat and there was still some left over."

"The meat was incredibly tender and flavoursome, cooked to perfection in just an hour inside the air fryer. Smothered in a rich beef stock and red wine gravy, it offered a delightful alternative to our usual chicken dish," Emma explained.

She did feel that the servings on mash were a bit on the stingy side. Advertised as 'two portions' Emma wasn't overly surprised and sugegsted that it's worth purchasing two pots of mash if you want more.

That being said, accompanied by the large Yorkshire puddings, the family had more than enough to create a satisfying, hearty meal. Other side options include rosemary hasselback potatoes, carrot and swede crush, red cabbage and more.

Could you make it cheaper from scratch?

Emma said "Possibly, but it would certainly take you significantly longer to prepare this feast. At five pounds per person, it's an expenditure you won't regret."
