Telly's Gladiators get treated like real-life gods. While making the show, favourites like Viper, Legend and Sabre become VIPs.

Production staff at the show’s set in Sheffield Arena make sure their every whim is catered for. Their base is a luxury changing room in a prime location where each Gladiator has their own area emblazoned with their name – just like at a top football club.

There’s also hi-tech equipment to help them relax. That includes an ice bath so they can enjoy a spot of cold water therapy. The LUMI recovery pod is designed to help them stay in peak condition for the games. Another luxury is their very own hot tub so they can relax.

They aren’t short of snacks either, with plenty around. There’s an endless supply of sweet treats including lollies and gummy bears as well as fruit.

And if they are really hungry, they can head to the show’s green room to order tip top grub. When it comes to playing the games, they are treated like rock stars. As each of them walk out on to the arena floor, the 4,000 fans in the crowd go crazy for them.

Once the games start, the reaction gets even louder. Many turn up to watch episodes being filmed with massive banners. The ones who get the biggest cheers are hunks Nitro and Giant.

Host Bradley Walsh said: “They are a great bunch of characters and the audience in the arena and at home really love to cheer for their favourites.

“It’s kind of like football where everyone has a favourite player in their team, or a box of chocolates – all of them are slightly different but there’s something for everyone.”

It’s not just the kids who go crazy. Bradley added: “Its great to see all the kids cheering for their favourite Gladiator, they really get behind them which is lovely.

“But the adults get really into it too. One woman had a banner saying ‘The Future Mrs Legend!’.”

After each game, they’re given a lengthy break to recover. The show’s production team take around an hour to deconstruct it and set up the next one. It means they’ve got time to make sure they are in the best condition possible for their next battle with contestants.

The Gladiators also get the best medical treatment if they get injured. A raft of physios and paramedics are on hand at all times and there are ambulances on standby outside the venue.

The show now boasts 18 super strong Gladiators. That includes the 16 we know and love already, along with two newcomers – Cyclone and Hammer. They’ve already been able to enjoy plenty of VIP treatment backstage and look set to be just as popular with fans.

Bradley said: “They are going to become huge fan favourites. They’re monsters, but the best kind of monsters!”
