An impressive home on Lake Tahoe has set the record for the most expensive residential property sold in the area at a staggering $62 million, and some people are surprised by the price of it.
The home was listed by agent Christine Perry and was originally on the market for $76 million, eventually selling for over $10 million less than that.
"The iconic Old Forge Wynn Estate, originally built in 1994 by renowned hotelier Steve Wynn, is a rare gem situated on five pristine acres with 210 feet of private, sandy beachfront," Perry told Newsweek.
A TikTok video posted by the agents, which has been viewed 390,000 times, shows the home's impressive surroundings and inner features, including its lakeside views, bright dining room, and cozy living space. In the video, viewers see the home's grand entrance and lush green lawns, along with a journey down the home's pier.
The property is gated, offering privacy along with wide open views of the surrounding mountain peaks and water, as well as its own private beach with the deep water pier jutting out into the lake.
Inside, the home is made up of a gourmet kitchen, media room, game room with partial kitchen, wine room, and a room that unfolds onto an expansive outdoor patio. There are also seven bedrooms, three of which are located in bespoke guest quarters.
Lake Tahoe is located between California and Nevada, spanning 502 square kilometers at 6,225 feet above sea level, which makes it the largest alpine lake in the country. The shores of the lake are dotted with luxury properties while the area also attracts visitors to experience things like hiking, canoeing, and sailing.
The Old Forge is located in Nevada, where the average house price is $441,637 according to Zillow, compared to the national average of $359,892.
"This generational home rarely comes on the market, and the discerning buyer recognizes the unparalleled value of such an extraordinary property," Perry told Newsweek. "This transaction marks a significant moment in Lake Tahoe's luxury real estate landscape, setting a new benchmark for exclusive estates in the region."
Viewers took to the comments of the viral TikTok video, which shows off the house, to share their thoughts on the property.
"It's not the house it's the dirt it sits on. However it's still magnificent," said @turn-and-burn.
"Nice place but I'm really not seeing $62m," commented @kabz_01. "Is that the Coraline house?" joked @Lanemckay2.
Bianca Edward simply said: "Beautiful."
