Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are set to battle it out on November 15, 2024, and it’s the first time Tyson has stepped into a ring for a sanctioned fight since 2005. With all the excitement ahead of their match, fans are curious about Tyson’s career record, including his stats, wins and losses.
What Are Mike Tyson’s Stats?
At 58 years old, Tyson stands at 5-feet-10-inches tall and Netflix, which will air the fight, reported that he weighs 228.4 pounds. The heavyweight boxer also has a reach of 71 inches, coming in 5 inches less than Paul’s at 76 inches.
How Many Fights Has Mike Tyson Won?
There’s a reason Tyson quickly gained the title of “Baddest Man on the Planet.” He was the youngest boxer to ever win the heavyweight title at only 20 years old when he won his match against IBF champion Tony Tucker in 1987.
He’s only lost six matches, and two others were deemed “no contest.” Iron Mike is considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. He won his first 19 professional fights in a row with knockouts and 12 of those happened in the first round.
Throughout his career, Tyson has won against boxers such as Frank Bruno, Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Donovan Ruddock.
How Many Fights Did Mike Tyson Lose?
Tyson has only lost six matches during his career and had two deemed “no contest.”
Iron Mike went undefeated until 1990 when he lost in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history to underdog James “Buster” Douglas. Tyson was heavily favored in the fight, with Douglas entering the ring at just 42/1 odds.
In 1996, Tyson took on Evander Holyfield and lost with a TKO. During their rematch, Tyson went on to famously bite part of Holyfield’s ear off in the third round. He was disqualified and he also lost his boxing license for the move.
In 2020, Tyson opened up about the infamous bite fight in an interview with Zab Judah.
“[Holyfield] knew he intentionally head-butted me because I was intentionally head-butting him,” Tyson told Zab, explaining what led to him biting Holyfield’s ear. “I was just mad and pissed off, and I was bleeding. I thought they would probably stop the fight because of my eye and I just lost it.”
As for whether or not Tyson actually had a part of Holyfield’s ear in his mouth, the Brooklyn native said he did and “spit it out.” Ultimately, Tyson said he “wished” he hadn’t taken a bite out of his opponent.
Following his bout with Holyfield, Tyson lost to Lennox Lewis in an eighth round knockout in 2002 and brought his bid for a heavyweight title to an end. Two years later, he lost to Danny Williams in 2004, and the following year, he lost to Kevin McBride. His matches against Williams and McBride was the only time in Tyson’s career that he lost two matches in a row. After the seventh round against McBride, he refused to come back out and officially retired from the sport.
